CASIO UNVEILS NEXT-GENERATION GRAPHING CALCULATOR
New PRIZM™ CAS fx-CG500 Offers High-Resolution, Touchscreen LCD Display and More to Help Give Students Deeper Understanding of Math

SAN ANTONIO, TX, April 3, 2017 - Casio America, Inc. a leader and innovator in the education space, is expanding its popular line of PRIZM™ graphing calculators with the introduction of the PRIZM CAS fx-CG500. In addition to boasting an advanced Computer Algebra System (CAS), the fx-CG500 is a next-generation graphing calculator complete with a high-resolution, color, touchscreen LCD, conveying a Natural Textbook display in addition to other features that are permitted for use on the AP, SAT I and II, PSAT and NMSQT exams. The new calculator will be on display this week for the National Council of Supervisors in Mathematics (NCSM) Leadership in Mathematics Education annual conference from April 3-5, as well as on the exhibitor floor in Casio’s booth (#631) at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Annual Conference from April 5-8.

“We are thrilled to introduce the fx-CG500 to Casio’s PRIZM line of superior graphing calculators and showcase it this week to educators and industry members alike," said Makoto Ori, Senior General Manager of Casio’s Consumer Product Division. “It brings math to life like never before with a vivid high-resolution LCD display, Color Link function for graphs, charts and spreadsheets, and more, which offer students a fun and innovative way to learn in the modern-day classroom."

High-Resolution Touchscreen LCD Display
Casio’s PRIZM is revolutionary among graphing calculators with features that enhance users’ understanding of mathematics, including a high-resolution, color, touchscreen LCD display (over 65,000 colors) with various functions designed to assist with mathematic lessons. The fx-CG500’s extra-large 4.8" screen allows for more complete and detailed viewing of mathematics and offers Casio’s standard Natural Textbook Display. Its drag-and-drop functionality enables students to quickly and intuitively pull information from one representation into another, while its split-screen functionality allows simultaneous viewing of functions and graphs. Students can also switch between portrait and landscape views for extended screen width.

Mathematics Capabilities
Designed for middle school math classes and beyond, the fx-CG500 will help students to investigate and solve the most challenging equations and enhance their understanding of mathematics. With a large, soft keyboard and convenient drop-down menus, the fx-CG500 is super easy to use. Specific features ideal for higher levels of mathematics include but are not limited to advanced CAS for symbolic computation, built-in graphing of conic sections, interactive equation solver, matrix operations and inverses and more. It’s also equipped with statistics regressions, graphical displays and residual calculators, in addition to streamlined solving for intercepts and intersections.

Multitude of Functions That Leverage the Color LCD
Colors can be added to a multitude of graphing objects including dotted lines, circles, and bars, as well as grid lines on graphs, labels of coordinate axes, and more. The Color Link function links the colors used in graphs to the designated values in the spreadsheet screen, to aid the visual comprehension of trends and changes in values.

The fx-CG500 will be available in white with a soft keyboard and USB-to-computer connectivity in April at retailers nationwide for a MSRP of $129.99. For additional information on Casio’s full portfolio of calculators and education initiatives, please visit www.CasioEducation.com.
