CASIO AMERICA, INC. NAMED AS CES 2016 INNOVATION AWARD HONOREE FOR ITS CELVIANO GRAND HYBRID PIANOS
GP-500BP and GP-300 Pianos Combine the Advantages of Digital Technology with the Traditional Sound and Feel of Acoustic Pianos

DOVER, NJ, November 11, 2015 – Casio America, Inc. today announced that it has been named as a CES 2016 Innovation Award Honoree for its newest CELVIANO Grand Hybrid GP-500BP and GP-300 pianos. Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 27 product categories.

Bringing together the perfect combination of innovation and tradition, the new Grand Hybrid GP-500BP and GP-300 pianos have been refined for those who demand an authentic grand piano experience. They were designed to achieve a new level of piano authenticity and were in the development stages for more than three years. To simulate the complex and multi-faceted sound of an acoustic piano in a digital hybrid piano, the GP-500BP and GP-300 pianos feature Casio’s AiR Sound Source and are based on countless hours of precise analysis of not just one, but three of the world’s finest grand pianos. They also feature a Grand Acoustic System that faithfully represents the immersive sound of a grand piano. Using an exclusive amplification system, it reproduces the three-dimensional sound field generated by an acoustic grand. Additionally, a six-speaker multi-channel amplification system creates an immersive sound field like that of a 9-foot concert grand and fills the room with rich, complex sound, reaching both the performer and the audience.

“The Celviano Grand Hybrid Pianosprovide musicians with ideal functionality and are a perfect fit for the most demanding and traditional pianists, all brought to life through our strong collaboration with C. Bechstein to reproduce incredible and iconic sounds," said Stephen Schmidt, Vice President of Casio’s Electronic Musical Instrument Division. “We are honored to receive this recognition and will continue to provide the electronic music industry with innovative products by applying our technological expertise to increasingly take the piano experience to the next level."

The prestigious CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™, the producer of CES 2016, the global gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies, and have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.

Entries are evaluated on their engineering, aesthetic and design qualities, intended use/function and user value, how the design and innovation of the product directly compares to other products in the marketplace and unique/novel features present. Products chosen as CES Innovation Honorees reflect innovative design and engineering in some of the most cutting edge tech products and services coming to market.

Casio’s GP-500BP and GP-300pianos will be displayed at CES 2016, which runs January 6-9, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada and are available now at music dealers nationwide for MSRPs of $5,999 and $3,999, respectively.
